Separate ATV accidents kill two Pike County men

META, Ky. – Kentucky State Police investigated an ATV accident last Thursday that killed a man on Bent Branch Road in the community of Meta, Ky.


The single vehicle 4-wheeler accident is being investigated by KSP Trooper Shannon Jones of Post 9 in Pikeville. Trooper Jones responded to the scene and information obtained at the accident indicates that 40 year old Clay Maynard of Kimper, Ky. was traveling north on Bent Branch Road when the ATV he was operating exited the roadway, overturned and came to rest in a creek.


Maynard sustained fatal injuries in the collision. The collision remains under investigation by Trooper Jones.


Post 9 in Pikeville also received a call of single vehicle ATV accident on Ky. Rt. 195, Marrowbone Creek Road in the Elkhorn City community of Pike County.


KSP Trooper Chris Marcum responded to the scene and the information obtained at the sight indicates that 41 year old Matthew Wallace of Elkhorn City was traveling South on Ky. 195.


The ATV operated by Wallace left the roadway on the southbound shoulder striking a tree. Wallace sustained fatal injuries in the collision. The collision remains under investigation by Trooper Marcum.
