Pike man arrested for attempted burglary

PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A man was arrested yesterday for the attempted burglary of a pharmacy.

Brandon Kennard, 26, of Pikeville, allegedly used a landscape stone to break a pharmacy window which caused the building alarm to sound in the early morning hours of Wednesday, Sept. 26.

The Pikeville Police Department received a report of the burglary alarm at 2:36 a.m.

Kennard, after hearing the alarm go off, allegedly fled on foot to a nearby residence, but was found by Patrolman Michael Riddle. Riddle found evidence at the scene which led officers to Kennard’s location.

Kennard confessed to officers that be damaged the building in order to gain entry into the pharmacy. He was taken into custody by Riddle, charged with first-degree criminal mischief and lodged in the Pike County Detention Center. Patrolmen David Adkins and Tony Conn assisted Riddle.

The incident is still under investigation by the PPD.
