Mingo Central falls in regional golf tourney

TORNADO - Mingo Central placed sixth out of nine teams in Class AA Regional golf tournament played at the Big Bend Golf Course in Tornado, W.Va. on Monday.

Scott High School finished first and Poca finished second. Both teams move on to the State Tournament at Oglebay Park in Wheeling, on October 2-and- 3.

Herbert Hoover’s Travis Gibson moves on as an individual winner with a score of 74, as-well-as Nicholas County’s Drew Ward with a score of 77.

Mingo Central’s Garrett Bevins was close behind the two top finishers with a score of 79.

Team scores: Scott – 230, Poca – 231, Chapmanville – 251, Herbert Hoover – 257, Nicholas County – 265, Mingo Central – 279, Sissonville – 288, Wayne – 288 and Clay County – 304.
