PIKEVILLE, Ky. - Both soccer teams from Belfry lost to Pikeville Tuesday night at YMCA Complex at Pikeville.
The boys lost by a score of 3-0, while the girls were beaten by a score of 8-0. Both of the Pikeville teams are in first place in the region.
Care Bartley scored two goals for Pikeville and Richmond McAnallen scored. McAnallen also had a pair of assists for the Panthers. Pikeville led 3-0 at the half.
Goalie Luke Wheat had eight saves for Pikeville, while Jonathan Freeman had 14 saves for the Pirates.
Belfry is now 0-2 on the season and will play Shelby Valley on August 28.
The Lady Pirates fell behind 6-0 at the half and never recovered.
Scoring for Pikeville Lady Panthers were Micah Heffington, Wendi Smith, with an assist from Jessica Branham. Branham scored with an assist from Olivia Lane and again with an assist from Baylie VanHoose.
Micaela Bush scored on an assist from Branham and another on an unassisted shot. Frankie Dawahare hit the net on an assist from Hayleigh Bevins and McKenzie Moore scored an unassisted goal for Pikeville’s final point.
Belfry goalie Caitlyn Hunt had 19 saves at the net.
Belfry is now 1-3 on the season. They were scheduled to play Pike Central today, but the game was canceled.
