GILBERT - A Floyd County, Ky., couple were arrested after a traffic stop in Gilbert over the weekend.

According to the criminal complaint, Gilbert Patrolman S.R. Hughes observed a Honda Accord traveling through the town at a high rate of speed.

Upon pulling the car over, Hughes “smelled a strong odor of marijuana.”

The driver, Stephen Hyden, Jr., 18, was found to be driving with a license revoked for DUI (under 21 years of age).

The passenger, Kayla Ellis, 18, also of Prestonsburg, willingly gave Patrolman Hughes marijuana that was in her cigarette pack.

There was also bags of what appeared to be marijuana in the vehicle, along with several unidentified pills, the complaint said.

Ellis was charged with possession with intent to deliver, while Hyden was charged with possession with intent to deliver along with driving under a revoked license under 21.

Lt. Glandon assisted Hughes on scene with his K-9 unit.
