Sudden heavy rainfall caused some local minor flash flooding Wednesday, but there was no major damage.

Pike County Emergency Services Director Doug Tackett said he areas where water was an issue were Forest Hills and Turkey Creek.

However, the creeks were not out of their banks. The volume of water running off the hills was simply too much for the drainage systems.

“We just had a lot of rain in a short period of time,” Tackett said. “There is just too much stuff in the creeks, it created blockages in the culverts and ditches, and the water just went into the roads.”

The water receded quickly however, and no major damage was reported.
