Wilson D. “Jack” Harper, 72, of Sneeds Ferry, N.C., formerly of Sprigg, departed this life on Saturday, July 21, 2012.

Jack was born on July 13, 1940, in Martin County, Ky., a son of the late James A. “Archie” and Anna Lea Miller Harper.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by eight brothers.

Jack was a veteran, having served in the United States Army and was also retired having worked for Great Lakes Steel Mill.

He leaves to honor his loving memory and mourn his passing daughter, Judy Ann (Mark) Wheeler of Sneeds Ferry; son, Thomas (Claudia) Harper of River Rouge, Mich.; and adopted daughter, Candance Harper of Michigan; sisters Ann Hale of Williamson, Annette Patterson of Red Jacket, and Carolyn Opouski of Red Jacket.

Jack is also survived by nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, August 11, in the Chambers Funeral Services’ Chapel, at noon with the Rev. Danny Scott officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chambers Funeral Services, Inc. of Matewan.
