Patsy Murphy Baker, widow of George Bennett Baker Jr., passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2012.

She was born in April 1924 in Belfry, Ky.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by hr parents, the Rev. J. Preston Murphy and Mary Murphy Farley; as well as her sisters Jeanette Murphy Klemm, Ruth N. Murphy and Edith Murphy Brickner.

Patsy was an active member of the First United Methodist Churches in Henderson and Frankfort, Ky. She was also involved in the League of Women Voters, the Democratic Party as well as many philanthropic, civic and cultural organizations in Henderson and Frankfort. She served on the Board of the Kentucky Book Fair for many years.

She is survived by her children, Mary Pat Baker Dobbins and George Bennett Baker III, (Sally); her grandchildren, Patricia Dobbins MacDonald (Jonathan), Allison Baker, Brandon Fain, Magen Poffo; and her great grandchild, Graham Bennett MacDonald; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Patsy’s body was donated to the University of Kentucky Medical Center and her memorial service will be on Friday, August 7, at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Frankfort.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the FUMC in Henderson or Frankfort, Hospice of the Bluegrass or a favorite charity as suggested.
