Peggy Ward Kirk died on February 10, 2009 at the home of her daughter in Inez, Ky.

Born in Maytown, Ky., on September 11, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Henry Beecher Ward and Mary Copley Ward.

Mrs. Kirk was the widow of Charles E. Kirk.

Mrs. Kirk gradated from Inez High School, attended Centre College, and received her B. S. from the University of Kentucky . She taught for 28 years in the Martin County School System, leaving in 1972 to be the primary caregiver for her husband who was on dialysis. After his death in 1977, she joined her daughter and son-in-law at the Inez Deposit Bank and remained as Senior Vice President until her dea-th.Mrs. Kirk was a Univer-sity of Kentucky Fellow, a member of Centre College Associates, and a member of the Golden Memorial United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Robert M. Duncan; her grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Robert M. Duncan Jr. and Valerie Duncan; her great-granddaughter, Taylor Ann Duncan; sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Park Lipp, sister-in-law Kathleen Cor-nette; eight nephews; a special niece, Melinda McDaniel; faithful caregivers, Tim and Ann McCoy and Jamie and Becky Howard.

The family will observe calling hours for the public from 6 to 9 p.m., Friday, February 13 at the Rich-mond -Callaham Funeral Home in Inez, Ky.

Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, February 14 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Brad Smart and Rev. Tim McCoy officiating. Internment will follow the service at Cassady Cem-etery , Coldwater Road . Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Raymond D. Wells, C. F. Shewey, Byron W. Thornton, Jr., James H. Booth, Eldred E. Adams, Jr., Dr. Lloyd M. Browning, Lafe S. Hinkle, II, Wm. David Michael, George Oberlick, Joe Collier, Karen W. Rogers, Jo Ann Roberts, Dr. Bruce L. Mills, A. J. Haney, Mike Goble, and Willis R. Roberts. Pall-bearers are Dr. John Haney, Brent Haney, Allen Lipp, Charles W. Lipp, Jeffrey McDaniel, James Howard, James Ayers, G. Thomas Barker, and Justin Gilfert.
