Teddy Ray Toler, 65, of Bean Station, Tenn., formerly of Wharncliffe, passed away on July 11, 2012. His friends and family were by his side when he drifted off to be with the Lord at the University of Tennessee Medical Center.
Teddy was a sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1967-1969 and was awarded The Bronze Star Medal with V Device, Bronze Star-Vietnam Service Award with four service stars, and the National Defense Service Ribbon due to his excellent service to our country in the Vietnam War. He was a retired coal miner from Pittston Coal. He was a proud member of Bean Station Church of God.
Teddy was an extraordinarily devout family man who is survived by his wife, Wanda Toler; his children, Vickie (Steve) Browning, Shane (Jennifer) Toler, Marty (John) Dotson, Tabby (Joey) Tackett, John (Andrea) York, Eric (Christy) Toler, Justin McCloud, Ed (Kristin) York, and Juneeta Patton; his grandchildren, Wesley Browning, Jessica Toler, Amanda Toler, Johnna (Donovan) Mounts, Bub Dotson, Morgan Tackett, Lexi York, Faith York, Shawn Toler, Erica Toler, Ariel Compton, Dylan Tomlin, Derick Tomlin, Mason Tomlin, and Jeradieh Patton; his great-grandchildren, Dalton Browning, Drake Toler, and, soon-to-be born, Jaylyn Mounts; his siblings, Virginia (Delbert) Conley, Kathy (Larry) O’Brien, and Marshall (Tracie) Toler; his first wife, Sue Toler; his stepmother, Rosie Toler.
He is preceded in death by his parents Margaret O’Neil Toler and Elmer Ray Toler; stepmother Ruth Toler; best friend and brother Roy Toler; grandson Stevie Browning; and great-granddaughter Sabrina Browning.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Mounts Funeral Home in Gilbert. The pallbearers are Joey Tackett, Dylan Tomlin, Derick Tomlin, Bub Dotson, Wesley Browning, Donovan Mounts, John York, and Travis Johnson. Honorary pallbearers are Monroe Gibson, Roger Phillips, Lee McGoldrick, Russell Deskins, Tee Deskins, and Robert Adkins. The wake will be held from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. with a homegoing service beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 15, at Four Winds Tabernacle; the funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 16, at Four Winds Tabernacle with graveside service following at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby Heights, Pecks Mill.
He is gone from our sight but never from our hearts.
