So called ‘Democrats?’

To the editor:

I am a former resident of Mingo County. I would like to comment on two recent events:

1. The so called “Democrats” who voted against Obama in the primary and voted for a convicted, incarcarated felon should be removed from the rolls of the Democrat Party.

2. Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin and Sen. HoeManchin who both say they will not endorse Obama and that they will not attend the Democratic Convention should also be “drummed out” of the Democrat Party.

Wake up West Virginia. Stop falling for lies from the GOP and Fox New.

William York

Mr. York, have you ever wondered WHY they voted for someone they'd never heard of? I consider myself to be one of the more intelligent and educated among the inhabitants of the county, and I can tell you that, had I voted in the primary, I too would have voted for this convict I'd never heard of. President Obama's environmental policies are very damaging for the coal industry in our state. America is the only democratic industrialized nation which allows fracking for extraction of natural gas (look up what France and Germany think of it). He has chosen air quality over water quality, that's really all he's done, but his choice has cost many people their jobs in the coalfields, and will cost more before everything is said and done. That said, Romney isn't going to champion miners either, so I won't vote in the general election either. Unless, perhaps, I write in Emperor Palpatine.

Mr. York,

How can you sit with a straight face, endorse this president who has nothing but a record of failure with all of his policies. He is waging war on your former "home" costing families their jobs. Then speak to us about lies from Fox News and the GOP. You sir either arent paying attention to what is going on in this country, too ignorant to know what you're paying attention too, or a non contributing voter. I dare you or anyone to try and vouch for the president to me based on his merits or accomplishments.

How dare Tomblin or Manchin turn their backs on our president. We should embrace his attack on the coal industry, ignore the massive losses in our retirement investment portfolios. Who needs jobs anyway. I say four more years.

tonight many wives and children are weeping in east ky. 500 more miners lost their jobs which brings the total to more than1200 miners this year in Ky. I am a coal miners son and can remember the 1950's and the hard times that were present. However, this pain is man made. The President of the USA has used EPA to force conversion of coal using plants to natural gas. Once again, the miners and people of Appalachia are being exploited for political gain. The Democratic party is now courting the elitist environmental faction for they have far more money than the miners. The Republicans are supporting coal only for the benefit of the corporations. Admittedly the miner eats from the crumbs that fall from the Coal Industry's table, but at least they get those crumbs. The Democrats have abandoned labor for the environmentalist. Where does the miner turn? No where to find a friend. Only against Obama to find another ally, who will use him for as long as it profits that ally. There simply is no where else to go.
