BEECHCREEK - Numerous charges have been filed against a Beech Creek man after he allegedly struck a West Virginia State Trooper who was investigating a destruction of property complaint, and then attempted to flee the scene.
According to the criminal complaint filed by WVSP Trooper J.R. Tupper, he was dispatched to a residence on Beech Creek following a complaint of property being destroyed that involved the defendant, Trellis Ray Cisco, 36. Tupper stated in the complaint that while being questioned, Cisco fled the scene on foot.
During a physical altercation with the defendant that occurred following a brief foot chase, Cisco allegedly struck the trooper in the head with his closed fist and verbally threatened to inflict further injury to the law enforcement officer. The defendant then attempted to flee once again while wearing handcuffs around one wrist but was not successful in his attempts to avoid arrest and was taken into custody.
Cisco was arraigned by Magistrate Dallas Toler and was later released from custody after meeting the condition stipulated on his $10,000 bond.
Cisco had also been arrested on April 18 on charges of domestic battery and assault after a complaint was filed by Latashia Baldwin of Beech Creek who alleges that Cisco waved a knife her direction and verbally threatened to cause her harm with the weapon. He and is also accused of striking the victim repeatedly in the back of her head with his fist and was said to have thrown her to the floor and proceeded to kick her. That arrest warrant was executed by Trooper D. Moore.
Baldwin was granted an Emergency Protection Order against Cisco following the alleged assault, which he is accused of violating by going to the victim’s residence. Trooper J.J. Moore obtained an arrest warrant against the defendant for the E.P.O. violation and was attempting to serve him with it at the time of his arrest by Trooper Tupper.
A preliminary hearing for Cisco on all the above charges is scheduled for Tuesday, June 26 at 9 p.m. in Mingo County Magistrate Court.
