Lady Pirates lose to JCHS

PIKEVILLE, Ky. – The season ended for the Belfry Lady Pirates Wednesday night as they lost 11-2 to a tough Johnson Central squad in the semi-finals of the 15th Region tournament played a Pikeville.

Belfry committed five errors in the contest. Brooke Williamson was the losing pitcher.

The Lady Pirate sophomore helped her own cause with two singles. Belfry only had three hits in the game.

Junior first baseman Morgan Vipperman had the only other hit. She knocked in Belfry’s only two runs in the 4th inning.

Johnson Central belted out 15 hits in the game. They scored five runs in the 3rd inning to take a 6-0 lead. The Lady Golden Eagles are now 29-10 for the season and was scheduled to play East Ridge for the region championship. East Ridge had upset Magoffin County earlier in the tourney.

Belfry finished the season with a fine 23-13 record for head coach Ryan Chapman. “We had a good season,” Chapman said. “We return a lot of good player for next season. I’m proud of these girls.”

Cassandra Hall was the winning pitcher for JCHS.
