GOODY, Ky. – The Lady Pirate softball team has had their ups and down this season.

With a record of 21-11 and a 5-game winning streak to end the regular season, head coach Ryan Chapman hopes his team is ready as they head into the 60th District Tournament.

Belfry is scheduled to play Thursday, May 24, at Pike Central. They will take on the winner of Phelps and Pike Central at 6:00 p.m.

“For us to be successful and get to where we want to be - we have got to play sound fundamental softball,” Chapman said. “If Brooke (Branham) and Brooke (Williamson) are on and Sydni Bogar is getting on base in front of them big things can happen for our offense.”

Branham is the shortstop, Williamson the pitcher and Bogar plays at second base for BHS.

“Defensively we just have to keep making the routine plays hopefully we will come out on top,” Chapman added.

Branham, a senior who recently signed to play with Pikeville, has been one of Chapman’s leading hitters. Williamson, just a sophomore, is the pitcher and also one of the team’s leading hitters.

Other starters include Becca Maynard in center field, Bethann Wallen in right field, Ashley Miller in left field, Kacey Tackett at third base, Morgan Vipperman at first base and Morgan Hall behind the plate. Kearia Farley and Courtney Hensley could see some action.

The regional tournament will be held at Pikeville.
