GOODY, Ky. – Belfry softball player Brooke Branham will take her talents to the next level. The southpaw sensation signed a letter of intent to attend the University of Pikeville last Friday in a ceremony at the school.
Branham currently plays shortstop for coach Ryan Chapman, but will most likely be switched to another position for the Lady Bears.
She is one of the region’s top players and one of Belfry’s leading hitters with an average around .450. She has been one of the Lady Pirates best players the last four seasons.
Branham said she is excited about going to college and getting the opportunity to continue playing softball and further her education.
UPike is coached by Robert Staggs, who was present at the signing.
“We’re very pleased to add Brooke to our family at the University of Pikeville. She is the type of quality person we are looking for at UPike, and can’t wait to bring her to campus. Unlike most of our signees, she has a very good knowledge of how we do things and what we expect because of her sister being here, and we feel blessed to continue that tradition,” Staggs said.
