LICK CREEK, Ky. – Belfry broke a 0-0 tie with six runs in the 4th inning and went on to beat East Ridge 10-3 Thursday night at Lick Creek.
Jared Masters started the Belfry 4th with a lead off with walk and Keegan Fields sacrificed him to second base. Masters got to third base on infield groundout. Reed Williamson then had an RBI single to score Masters.
Belfry’s Howie Dotson walked and Zack Francisco reached on an error by the second base. Tyler Williams then knocked in Williamson and Dotson. Keaton Taylor came in as a courtesy runner for Williams. Joey Duty was then hit by a pitch, loading the bases.
Zac Fields singled in both Francisco and Taylor, followed by a base hit by Masters, which scored Duty. Zac Fields was thrown out at third base to end the inning, but the Pirates led 6-0.
Belfry got three more runs in the 5th inning after Keegan Fields walked, followed by a single by Williamson. Then Dotson singled in Travis Maynard, who was a pinch runner for K. Fields. Williams doubled in Williamson and Dotson for two more RBIs to give Belfry a 9-0 lead.
East Ridge scored three in the bottom of the 6th frame.
Belfry got one more insurance run in the 7th inning after Dotson singled leading off and scored on single by Taylor, who was batting in the lineup spot of Williams.
Williams was the winning pitcher, while Zack Fields was the losing hurler for East Ridge.
Taylor got credited with a save.
With the road win Belfry improved to 20-7 on the season.
