Paul Abraham Parsley, 81, of Lenore, gained his angel wings, on April 26, 2012, while surrounded by family.
He was born on July 6, 1930, in Clendenin, the son of the late Orison and Esther (Marcum) Parsley.
Paul attended Lenore High School and served in the United States Army. He was a retired coal miner.
He is survived by his loving wife of more than 61 years, Joy (Baisden) Parsley. Also surviving are his five children, Paul (Kay) Parsley, Bobby (Pam) Parsley, Vanessa (Hayden Jr.) Hannah, Linda (Russell) Deskins and Jessica (Kenneth) Workman. Paul is also cherished by his 11 grandchildren, Kristie (Sean) Ferrell, Kevin (Tina) Parsley, Katelyn Parsley, Kyle Parsley, Alisha (Todd) Hall, Erica (Ricky) Davis, Jeremy (Alisha) Brewer, Sabrina (Phil) Amick, Mark (Natasha) Deskins, Chase Workman and Haylee Workman. He adored his great-grandchildren, Chase Parsley, Ethan Ferrell, Cory Davis, Luke Davis, Jeremy Brewer, Kylee Brewer, Aidan Amick, Addyson Amick, and Ava Deskins. Paul will be greatly missed by his loving brothers, John (Janice) Parsley of Johnstown, Ohio, Bill (Peggy) Parsley of Genoa; sister, Dora Jean Farley of Delbarton; and a very special, loving, niece, Alice Faye Causey and husband Robert Causey.
Paul was preceded in death by his siblings, Martha Wellman, Gladys Parsley and Cullen Parsley; and three great-grandchildren, Justin Ray Brewer, Keirstin RayAnn Brewer, and Caden James Brewer.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, April 30, at Lenore Fellowship Baptist Church in Lenore, with the Revs. Curtis Booth, Don Stroud and Josh Hall officiating. Burial will follow at the Marcum Cemetery at Breeden. Friends may call on Sunday, April 29, 2012 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the church.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Parsley, Sean Ferrell, Phil Amick, Mark Deskins, Robert Causey, Kyle Parsley, Chase Parsley, and Chase Workman. Honorary Pallbearers are Cory Davis, Luke Davis, Aidan Amick, Ethan Ferrell, and Jeremy Brewer.
