Homer Preece, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, of Mason, went home to be with the Lord on April 17, 2012.
He was a retired coal miner and a member of the Ravenswood Church of God. He was an accomplished musician and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He was born October 20, 1928, in Westerly Village, Kanawha County, the son of Carl and Pearl Preece.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Novia Marie Preece; siblings, Carl Randal Preece, Lucy Swain, and Allene Maynard.
He is survived by his wife Emogene Preece, Mason; daughters, Deanna (Tommy) Crum of Delbarton, Lana Kersey of Point Pleasant; and son, Homer Keith Preece of Point Pleasant; Emogene’s children, Pamela and Junior Smith and Johnny Cagigas. In addition he had five grandchildren, Phillip D. (Stephenie) Swisher of Gibsonia, Pa., Cheryl NiCole (John) Meadows of Randleman, N.C., Eric D. Swisher of Pittsburgh, Pa., Alicia DeAnna (Adam) Persinger of Point Pleasant, and Curtis Cole (Jennifer) Crum of Delbarton; and two great-grandchildren, Nate and Kate Swisher of Pittsburgh. He is also survived by three siblings, Ada Mae Farley of Manassas, Va., Leslie Preece of Raleigh, N.C. and John Preece of Delbarton.
Services will be at Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, Point Pleasant, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, with Pastors Mitchell Bias and Carl Mann officiating. Burial will follow at the Kirkland Memorial Gardens, in Lakin, with the Rev. James Maynard officiating. Visitation will be 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday, April 20, at Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, Point Pleasant. In addition a viewing will be held from noon until 1 p.m.
He will be greatly missed by his family and the many friends whose lives he touched.
