Scott rally beats Mingo Central

MADISON - Devin Bayer’s two-out RBI single capped a three-run rally in the bottom of the seventh and earned the win for the host Scott Skyhawks (1-3) over Mingo Central (4-4).

Josh May drove in five runs and was one of five Miners with two hits. Austin Reed, Alex Lee and Austin Trent each had two hits for MCHS. One of Reed’s hit was a double and Lee had a pair of RBIs.

For Scott, Bayer had three hits and three RBIs and Cody Blevins drove in three runs. Freshman Alex Miller led off the bottom of the seventh with a homer to start the winning rally

Several pitchers took the mound for Mingo Central including Chris Atkins, Nick Lee, Jacob Staton and Josh May.

Blevins and Brandon Spurlock pitched for the Skyhawks. Blevins had two hits including a double for Scott, Bayer had three hits with a double and three RBIs, Miller had a double and home run with two RBIs and Brown had two hits including a double.

Spurlock was the winning pitcher, while Staton took the loss in relief for the Miners.
