GOODY, Ky. - Belfry High School pitcher Jared Masters struck out the side in the first inning and continued to pitch a solid game but the Pirates lost to Logan, W.Va. 8-3 on Thursday night at Massey Energy Field at Goody.

Belfry took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning and scored another run in the third to take a 3-1 lead.

But Logan plated six runs in the 6th inning and one more insurance run the top of the 7th for the win.

Masters pitched 4 and 2/3 innings, striking out 10 Wildcat batters and walking three. He only gave up one earned run. Untimely Belfry errors contributed to the Logan rally.

Cody Frye picked up the mound win for the Wildcats. Zack Minnick had two hits for Logan and two RBIs. Logan also committed five errors.

Joey Duty had two hits for Belfry and a pair of RBIs. Tyler Williams had the other Pirate hit. Zac Field had an RBI on a sacrifice fly.

Belfry is now 2-2 on the season and is scheduled to host Betsy Layne today. This was Logan’s first game, thus they are now 1-0 on the season.
