Hazel Darlene Samples Marcum, 58, of Marrowbone, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 16, 2012, from St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington.


She was born March 24, 1953, in Columbus, Ohio, a daughter of the late Doc and Maxine Samples.


She was a homemaker and a member of the Neely Branch United Baptist Church.


She was preceded in death by her brother, Frank Samples.


Hazel is survived by her husband of 35 years, Bodie Marcum; as well as daughter, Jeanna Dawn (Greg) Hatfield; and two beautiful grandchildren, Kailey and Luke Hatfield. She is also survived by her brothers, Ben (Judy) Samples, and Kenny (Judy) Samples, of Westerville, Ohio, Leonard (Carol) Sample, of Harrisburg, Ohio, and sisters, Wanda Humker of Columbus, and twin sister, Jerline Kauderer of Mason, Ohio. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.


Darlene was loved by so many more family members and friends. She enjoyed life every day and always had a smile on her face and a hug for all.


Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, March 19, at 1 p.m. at the Neely Branch United Baptist Church with Russell Ball, Michael Bryant and Joe Mullins officiating. Burial will follow in the Newsome Ridge Cemetery of Naugatuck. Visitation will be conducted after 4 p.m. Sunday at the church.


Arrangements are under the directions of the Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home, Inez, Ky.
