WILLIAMSON - A Mingo County man who was arrested in Pike County, Ky., as a fugitive from justice after police raided his home and found drugs waived his extradition Friday and was arraigned Monday.

Williamson Chief of Police C.D. Rockel told the Daily News that Claude “Peanut” Smith, 59, of Williamson, was picked up from the Pike County Detention Center in Pikeville, Ky., by himself and WPD Patrolman D.L. Paige on Monday.

Smith was arraigned by Magistrate Pam Newsome and was given a $50,000 cash bond for each charge that he faces - possession with intent to deliver marijuana and possession with intent to deliver hydrocodone.

Rockel said that Smith will soon go before Judge Michael Thornsbury to have his probation revoked from the previous charge that placed him in jail before - delivery of a controlled substance - because he “got back to business” so quickly.

Smith is currently lodged at the Southwest Regional Jail, in Holden.
