The Tug Valley Panthers had revenge on the their mind and unfortunately the Belfry Pirates were in their path. on Dec. 29 the Panthers put a 65-37 beating on the Pirates in their final contest of the Mountain Schoolboy Classic. Mikey Newsome netted 10 points by the half to lead the Panthers to a 27-18 lead at the break. Tony Messer put in 16 points but his only help came from Josh Robinson single basket. Mason Pack had 11 in the second half and Newsome added seven more to his tally. Nick Turner had seven points in the last half but Messer was held to two baskets. Newsome led the Panthers with 17 and Pack had 3. The Panthers had 14 turnovers while the Pirates recorded 13. Belfry outrebounded the Panthers with Messers leading both squads. Belfry had 13 turnovers and Tug gave it up 14 times. The Bucs just could not find the basket and that is due to the Panthers defense. Belfry hit 13-24 freethrows and Tug was 10-of 17. The Bucs fell to 3-6 with the loss and will battle Phelps on home Jan. 3 Tug Valley improved to 3-1 and face River View on the road Jan. 3.
