GOODY, Ky. The Tug Valley
Panthers bounced back after a one point loss Dec. 27 to KO Scott High School 52-38 last night during the Mountain Schoolboy Classic at Belfry High School.
Scott kept the first quarter close trailing 14-13 going into the second Q. But the Valley smothered the Skyhawks holding their opponents to three points in the second.
The Panthers took a 24-16 lead at the break. Both teams had 10 turnovers in the first half.
Tug ended the game with 21 turnovers and forced Scott into 19. The battle of the boards was pretty much even with 22 rebounds for the Panthers and 21 for Scott. Jordan Colegrove
led the Panthers with six boards.
Three Panthers hit double figures. Aaron Muncy led TVHS with 14 followed by Mason Packs 12 and 11 for Mikey Newsome.
Scott only had four players break into the scoring column. Mathew Dolan led the Skyhawks with 16 and Jessie Belcher netted 14.
Scott was 60 percent from the line sinking 12 out of 20 freethrows.
The Panthers were 13-of-18 for 72 percent from the charity stripe.
Tug improved to 2-1 on the season and defeated the Belfry Pirates last night. (check tomorrow's sports)
