James Randy Chafin, 55, of Matewan, passed away December 9, 2011, at his home.
He was born April 9, 1956, at Williamson, the son of the late Larry Joe Chafin. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Greenway and Sophia Varney Chafin, Okey and Ethel Duty Fields; uncles, Freddie, Mason, John, Bill and Tommy Chafin, Eugene and Carlos Fields; aunts, Sally Dent, Eulia Mae Lands.
James Randy worked at USG in West Lake, Ohio, for more than 28 years.
He is survived by his loving mother, Maudine Fields Chafin; brothers, Larry Gene (Donna) Chafin of Matewan and John Henry Chafin of Continental, Ohio; niece and nephew, Chris and Lea Chafin and many nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday December 12, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Lewis Hall officiating at the Chafin Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Chafin Cemetery at Ragland. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Chafin Funeral Home Chapel.

Doris Childers
Doris Childers , 65, of South Williamson, Ky., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 8, 2011, from the Pikeville Medical Center.
Born November 11, 1946, at Inez, Ky., she was the daughter of Gladys Stepp McCoy, of South Williamson, and the late John Henry McCoy. In addition to her father, she was also preceded in death by her husband, William David Childers.
Doris was a graduate of Belfry High School and the Logan County Vocational School where she completed the LPN course. She worked as a nurse for Dr. Pajarillo for 28 years. She was active in the Williamson Women of the Moose where she held various offices, and she was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors, in addition to her mother, include her two sons Chuck (Teresa) Childers, of Ransom, Ky., and Mark (Jennifer) Childers of West Minister, Md.; one brother, Grover McCoy of Hardy, Ky.; three sisters, Virginia (Art) Pocapak of Akron, Ohio, Phyllis (Buck) Bannister of Spartanburg, S.C., and Brenda Kay (Bobby) Felix of Rincon, Ga.; three grandchildren, Austin Christopher Childers, Cameron Paige Childers, and Colton Christopher Childers; and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, December 12, at 1 p.m. from the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, Ky., with Eddie Hatfield and Tim McCoy officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Memory Gardens at Maher, with Chuck Childers, Mark Childers, Austin Childers, Dustin Bannister, Joey Scott, Buck Bannister, and Lacy Muncy serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Dr. Leo Pajarillo. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.

Eunice Maynard
Eunice Muncy Maynard, 88, of Turkey Creek, Ky., passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2011, at Trinity of Mingo, Williamson.
Born December 11, 1922, at Laura, Ky., she was the daughter of the late John B. Muncy and Hannah Sartin Muncy.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a son, Prentice Maynard; a grandson, James Kevin Maynard; four brothers, Arvil, Leonard, Bob and Fred Muncy; and three sisters, Eula Wallace, Pearl Fields and Lou Muncy.
Eunice was a homemaker and member of the Brethern Church.
Eunice is survived by her husband of 67 years, C. A. “Crit” Maynard of Turkey Creek; two sons, James (Carolyn) Maynard and Paul (Tammy) Maynard, all of Turkey Creek; a sister, Edna Cline of Martin County, Ky.; a brother, Rush Muncy of Turkey Creek; two grandchildren, Rebecca Maynard and Steven Maynard, both of Turkey Creek; and four great-grandchildren, Britney, Maranda, Hannah and Steven Aaron Christopher Maynard.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Saturday evening, December 10, and from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday, December 11, at Weaver Mortuary in West Williamson. Special services will be conducted each evening at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., on Monday, December 12, at the mortuary. Burial will be at the Caney Cemetery, at Laura. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Lola Stepp
Lola Stepp, 89, of Delbarton, passed away December 8, 2011, at the Huntington Hospice House.
She was born February 10, 1922, in Mingo County, the daughter of the late Joseph and Willa Sue Kirk Chapman. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 58, years Denver Stepp; brothers, William and Joseph Jr. Chapman; sisters, Irene Justice, Sadie Scott and Ruby Chapman.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Middle Fork United Baptist Church of Inez, Ky.
Those left behind to cherish her memories are her daughters, Bonnie (Jim) Saunders of Delbarton and Linda Coleman of Huntington; sisters, Lucille Newcomb of Chattaroy, Betty Crum of Hatfield, Ky., Ethel Cochran of Belfry, Ky., and Patty Detter of Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Stephanie (Chris) Saunders and Amy (Brad) Smith; great-grandchildren, Christien Saunders, Donnavin, Tevin, Darian, Haili and D.J. Smith.
Funeral services will be held at the Chafin Funeral Home Monday December 12, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ron Paige, the Rev. Mitchell Bias and Elder Thomas Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Memory Gardens at Maher. Visitation will be at the funeral home chapel from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday evening.
