Emma Bowen

Emma Jean Bowen, 63, of Pinsonfork, Ky., passed away Saturday November 19, 2011, at Appalachian Regional Hospital Emergency Room. She was born December 24, 1947, at McVeigh, Ky., to the late Ervin and Hermia Belcher Bowen.

She was a former desk clerk at Mountaineer Hotel, a line checker at Kellogs and a member of the Upper Pond Creek Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by her brothers, Roger Bowen of McVeigh, Wallace (Sadie) Bowen of McVeigh, and James (Debbie) Bowen of Spartanburg, S.C.; sisters, Loretta Worley of Pinsonfork, and Ruth Ann (Dickie) Smith of Belfry, Ky.; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 22, at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, Ky., with nephews Rodney Bowen, Terry Bowen, Wyley Worley, Landon Worley and David Smith serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Sunday and Monday at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home.

Stella Hardy

Stella Smith Hardy, 81, of Pinsonfork, Ky., passed away Friday November 18, 2011, at Pikeville Medical Center. She was born July 15, 1930, at Pinsonfork, to the late Willie and Sally May Smith.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Alfred Hardy; brothers, Okey Smith, Buster Smith and Glen (Beulah) Norman; sister, Goldie (Earl) Folden; brother-in-Law, Rutherford B. Smith; and all the Hardy Family brothers and sisters.

She was a homemaker and a member and treasurer of Octavia Freewill Baptist Church.

She is survived her sisters, Celia Smith and Bertha Smith of Pinsonfork; nieces, Belinda (Bobby) Smith of Madisonville, Ky., Linda (Stan) Smith, Brenda (Cecil) Smith, Diane Smith and Connie Chapman all of Pinsonfork, Fayetta (Troy) Slater of Hardy, Ky., Shirley K. Smith of Ohio, Sylvia Smith of Ohio, Katrina (Nathan) Jones of McAndrews, Ky., and Sherry (Alan) Hubbard of Hardy; sister-in-law, Ruby Smith of Pinsonfork; nephews, Billy J. (Gloria) Smith of Canton, Ohio, Okey (Sheila) Smith and Terry (Sabrina) Smith both of McAndrews, Danny R. (Brenda) Anderson of Durham, N.C., Bobby D. Burial will follow at Charlie Runyon Cemetery, Pinsonfork, with Stan Smith, Okey Smith, Mark Goff, William Smith, Billy Smith and Michael Smith serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Bryan and Bobby Smith. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Sunday night at the funeral home with special services at 7 p.m.

Denver Kenneda

Denver J. “Buck” Kenneda, 60, of Clearkfork, died Friday, November 18, 2011. He was born February, 28, 1951, at Simon, to the late Azil and Ethel Kenneda.

Funeral services will be held at Long Branch Freewill Baptist Church, Simon, on Tuesday, November 22, at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Kenneda Family Cemetery, Simon. Friend may gather with the family at the Long Branch Freewill Baptist Church on Sunday, November 20, and Monday, November 21, after 6 p.m.

Judy Ratliff

Judy Carol Ratliff, 62, of Chattaroy, went home to be with the Lord on Friday November 18, 2011, from her residence. She was born February 25, 1949, at Williamson, to the late Jimmy Floyd Bateman and Stella Agnus Fletcher Bateman.

She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Keaton, Mary Kirk and Barbara Bateman.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Chattaroy Church of God.

She is survived by her husband, Danny Ray Ratliff; son, Jimmy (Ruby) Ratliff of Chattaroy; daughters, Nichole (Ricky) Starr of Chattaroy, and Dana (Jerry) Blevins of Chattaroy; sister, Janette (J.R.) O’Brien of Williamson; grandchildren, Corey Blevins, Brooklyn Blevins, Kaley Ratliff, Madison Ratliff, Emilee Ratliff and Tyler Starr; great-grandchild, Judy Kay Blevins; sisters-in-law, June Bowen, Sue Swain and Sarah Whitt all of Columbus, Ohio; and a host of loving family and friends.
