GOODY, Ky. – The Pikeville Panthers visited the Belfry Pirates yesterday evening and swept the girls and boys soccer games.

PHS defeated the Lady Pirates 2-4 and the Pirates went down 2-1.

It was the third straight loss for the ladies in red but the 12-2-1 Panthers were just too quick for Belfry.

The gals have three more games remaining on their schedule. They battle Shelby Valley for the second time this season on Oct. 1. Belfry tied with the Wildcats on Aug. 23.

BHS will then face a strong Letcher County Central squad on Oct. 4. The Cougars are 13-1-1 this year and handedly took the W 10-0 over the Pirates on Sept. 27.

The Lady Pirates will finish regular season play on Oct. 6 against another powerful opponent Lawrence County (11-3-1).

The Lady Bucs have been led in scoring this year by Caitlin Woolum. The senior has recorded 12 goals over the course of the season.

The Lady Pirates are now 5-7-2 on the year.

The young men from BHS lost their fourth game in a row with only one game remaining on the schedule. Pikeville defeated Belfry 2-1 in a game played directly after their female counterparts.

Belfry will travel to Shelby Valley Oct. 1 with the game set to start at 12:30 p.m. BHS beat the Wildcats 2-0 on Aug. 23.

The Pirates are led in scoring by Shaun Mounts and Brett Charles. Mounts also leads the squad in assists.

Belfry fell to 8-7-0 with the loss.
