Life has been anything but dull for a Wllliamson area couple during their 67 years of married life and even now, in their late 80's, John Jude and his wife, Mary Vivian Jude of Cinderella, are bursting with pleasure in family, friends and life in general.

They didn't kick up their heels and mark March 14 as the anniversary of their marriage, but the belated celebration was well worth watiing for.

One of their four children, a son, John Dean Jude, arrived at their home at Valley View earlier this month and packed them off to Nashville, Tenn., where they boarded the showboat, General Jackson, for dinner and a few delayed honors.

The couple marked their wedding anniversary; the elder John Jude, 88, was honored for his military service during World War II (and that included a life-threatening tour during the Battle of the Bulge in Germany), and Mary Vivian, 83, received belated accolades due her on Mother's Day.

Although the couple found the trip to have dinner on the General Jackson a highlight in their lives, the twosome already have traveled more than most people in this country. The year 1984 was an exciting leg on their journey through life for they traveled to every state in the Continental United States.

Jude (the senior) was born Aug. 15, 1922 in West Virginia, a son of Matterson and Effie (Brown) Jude. He served as a U.S. postmaster at Thacker for over 30 years.

Mary Vivian (Harris) Jude was born Oct. 27, 1927, a daughter of Herbert and Maudie (Estep) Harris.

They were married March 14, 1944, in Williamson. They are longtime members of the Enon United Baptist Church at Blackberry City, above Matewan.

The Judes' family circle includes four children, Rodney Jude, Danny Jude, John Dean Jude, and Bonnie Lou (Jude) Dotson, and 13 grandchildren. The children are as follows with the Judes' grandchildren listed in parentheses:

Rodney Jude: (Inga "Jude" Hurley, Sonya Jude, Matthew Jude).

Danny Jude: (Nicole Jude, Danny Chad Jude, Jessica Jude, Jillian Jude, Deidre Jude and Denlia Rose (Jude) Richards).

John Dean Jude: (John Dean Jude Jr.., Shantel Jude, and Adam Jude.)

Bonnie Rose (Jude) Dotson: (Tracy Allen Dotson).
