Mary Mahon
Mary Hardin Mahon, 85,of Thacker # 11 Hollow-Thacker, died Friday, May 29, 2011, at the South Williamson (Ky.) Appalachian Regional Hospital
She was born in Argo, Ky., September 29, 1925, to the late Melvin and Margaret Dotson Hardin. In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by a host of brothers and sisters.
Mary was a homemaker
She is surivived by her husband, Pliant Mahon; sons, Ronald (Susan), Donald (Paula) Mahon, both of Thacker, and James Mahon; daughters, Betty Dotson of Louisa, Ky.; grandchildren, Gary (Brenda) Dotson, Angela (Richard) Triplett, Margaret (Harvey) Reed, Becky (Jamie) Frasher all of Louisa, Barry (Kim) Dotson of Grayson, Ky., Dean (Stephanie) and Terry (Lisa) Dotson, Judy (Paul) Wilks, all of Louisa, Ronnie (Kim) Mahon of Thacker, Bridgett (Chris) Compton, Robbie (Misty) Mahon, Donnie Mahon all of Phelps, Ky., Melissa Mahon of Lexington, Ky., Jamie (Marissa) Mahon of Thacker, Tammy (Dan) Carr of McCarr, Ky., Randy Mahon of Vulcan; great-grandchildren, Kimberly, Brittany, Dennis (Crystal), Sasha, and Megean Dotson, and Tiffany Triplett all of Louisa, Cole and Drew Dotson of Grayson, Brandon, Kristyn, Austin, Kayla all of Louisa, Ashley and Preston Mahon both of Thacker, Cory White of Lexington, Cortina Mahon and Dillon Fluty both of Lovely, Ky., Angel Williams; Billy Stratton and Cassie Akers both of McCarr, Brittany Akers of Beech Creek; great-great-grandchildren, Cayden, Brody, and Marrena Dotson all of Louisa.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon, Wednesday, May 4, at the Chambers Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. Opie R. Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the Harris Cemetery, Thacker #11 Hollow, Thacker, withe family and friends serving as pallbearers.
The family will begin receiving friends on Monday, May 2, and Tuesday, May 3, at the chapel from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. nightly.

James Smith
James W. Smith 83, of McVeigh, Ky., passed away Thursday April 28, 2011, at the Trinity Health Care Services in Williamson.
James was born May 30, 1927, in Martin County, Ky., to the late James and Sadie Dalton Smith.
In addition to his parents, James is also preceded in death by a son, Michael W. Smith; and five brothers, Clyde Smith, Deming Smith, Okey Smith, Arnold Smith and Prent Smith.
He was a retired coal miner at Eastern Coal, a member of the U.M.W.A., a member of the McAndrews Church of Christ and a veteran of the U. S. Army for 4 years and the U.S. Navy for 8 years.
James is survived by his wife, Ethel Kennedy Smith; one daughter, Lisa Smith of McVeigh; a brother; Don Smith of Thornville, Ohio; sisters Florence Cains of Lancaster, Ohio, Geneva Faulkner of Graveport, Ohio, Nell Howell of Beauty, Ky., Sue Jude of Beauty, and Connie Adams of Blacklick, Ohio; two stepbrothers, Garland Muncy of Beauty, and Ance Muncy Jr. of Zanesville, Ohio; and a host of loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday May 1, at the McAndrews Church of Christ with Joe Cochran officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, Ky. Pallbearers will be Larry Cains, Randy Howell, Anthony Preston, Ron Hepler, James Howell, Gary Scott, Ronnie Lester and Jason Smith.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday night at the McAndrews Church of Christ with special services Friday night at 7 p.m. with Donnie Estep officiating and Saturday night at 7 p.m. with David Parsley officiating.
R. E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry, Ky., is in charge of arrangements.
