Rt. 49 slide work


Kyle Lovern/WDN Photo Work has started on the slide on State Route 49 between Williamson and Matewan. The slide has been an issue for several months. The W.Va. Division of Highways bid went to Alan Stone Company for $280,263. The work is expected to be finished on May 27. Motorists are urged to drive with caution in that area. A portable signal light has been installed to help with the one-way traffic.
