PIKEVILLE 54, BELFRY 51

PIKEVILLE, Ky. – On Saturday the Lady Pirates of Belfry played their last regular season game of the year. They lost a hard-fought road contest to Pikeville 54-51.

Savannah Nunnery led the Lady Panthers of PHS with 15 points.

Junior point guard Lena Hairston fired in 20 points, while sophomore Kailee Rash scored 11 points and pulled down seven rebounds and 10th grader Ariel Mounts scored 10.

Pikeville made 19-42 shot for 45 percent, including 3-12 from behind the arc. Belfry was 16-44 shooting for just 37 percent, including only 2-7 from 3-point range.

At the free throw line Pikeville was 13-29, while Belfry was 17-29.

LETCHER CENTRAL 52, BELFRY 47

On Friday, Feb. 18, the Lady Pirates lost to Letcher Central 52-47.

Lena Hairston led Belfry with 18 points, while Kailee Rash scored 13.

Letcher Central went to the foul line 29 times and made 22 of those. Belfry only went six times and made five foul shots.

From the field Belfry was 19-55 for 35 percent, including 4-11 from long distance, while Letcher Central was 15-33 from the floor for 46 percent, including 0/5 from 3- point range.

Kenzie Maynard led Belfry with seven boards and she scored six points.

Emma Maggard fired in 19 for LCHS, while Paige Caudill scored 13.

Letcher (18-13) 11 13 6 22 – 52

BELFRY 51, PRESTONSBURG 47

On Friday at Prestonsburg, Ky. the Belfry Pirates won their last regular season game of the year beating the Blackcats of Prestonsburg 51-47.

The Belfry Pirates boys’ squad ended the season on a good note with the victory.

Belfry was 19-46 shooting for 41 percent, including 6-20 from behind the arc and 7-12 at the foul line.

The Blackcats were 14-38 from the field for 37 percent, including 6-12 from 3-point range and 13-19 at the free throw line.

Ryan Jessie led Belfry with 14 points, while Jaret James scored 12 and Isiah Roblee 10 points.

Wes Hager scored 12 and Austin Endicott 14 to lead Prestonsburg.

The teams were almost even in rebounds with Belfry pulling down 21 and P’burg 22. Koleston Blankenship has six rebounds for Belfry.

Belfry forced 15 turnovers against the Blackcats.

Belfry will be in 60th District tourney action on Wednesday taking on Pike County Central at Lawrence County High School, tipoff is slated for 8:15 p.m.
