Miners atop preseason polls

The Charleston Gazette-Mail recently released their 2015 high school pre-season football polls and two local teams are high on the list. Mingo Central, who finished the season last year with a record of 10-2, came in second in the state class AA rankings.

The Bridgeport Indians topped the Miners on the list after finishing their season at 13-1. The Tug Valley Panthers came in high in the Class A polls; they are third behind Williamstown and Magnolia.

The Panthers had a great season last year and made it to the semi-final playoff game before getting beat and finishing the year with a record of 11-2.

The Gazette-Mail 2015 High School Football Preseason Poll, as voted on by statewide sportswriters, with first-place votes in parentheses, team’s 2014 record, total points and teams’ season-opening opponent. All games are Friday, Aug. 28 unless noted.
