Miners sit in 1st place in Cardinal Conference


Several players in top 10 in offensive stats

The Mingo Central Miners, ranked No. 3 in Class AA, sit in first place in the Cardinal Conference standings with three more games left in the regular season. All three of those are conference games.

The Miners, now off to their best start in school history at 7-0, traveled to Scott (2-4) on Friday night. This week they will host Herbert Hoover (5-2) and then Winfield (5-1) to wind up the regular season.

The playoffs will begin the weekend of November 11 and 12. Mingo Central should host at least one first round game at Harless Stadium.

The Miners have several players in the league leaders in offensive statistices. They include quarterback Jeremy Dillon, fullback Joe Hunt, and wide receivers Drew Hatfield and Tyler Grimmett.
