Charleston, WV – It was another day of great weather that welcomed the fifty-eight teams who entered the 2016 WV Four-Ball Championship. While the first round was played across town at Edgewood Country Club, today’s final round was held in Charleston at Berry Hills Country Club. It was the tale of 2 completely different courses as the 6,900 yard Edgewood Country Club favors the long ball hitter and the 6,345 yard Berry Hills Country Club requires precision and proper placement to attack the difficult green complexes.

Round 1 co-leaders Joey Seabright and Thadd Obecny II looked to continue their momentum from their opening round of 63 at Edgewood and they did just that right out of the gate. A birdie on the par-4 first hole jumpstarted their round and it was peddle to the metal the entire round. Three straight birdies on holes three, four, and five were matched with three straight birdies on seven, eight, and nine giving them an opening nine of seven under-par, 29. Heading to the back nine the team knew they just needed to continue solid golf to hold off the fast approaching team of Davey Jude and Chris Williams who carded an opening nine of 30. Carding birdies on eleven, twelve, and fifteen the team of Seabright and Obecny finished with a round of ten under-par 60 and a tournament total of eighteen under-par, 123, which was good enough to claim the title by 4 shots over the team of Davey Jude and Chris Williams. Jude and Williams put up a great fight today posting a nine under-par 61 but it just wasn’t enough to catch Seabright and Obecny.

Rounding out the top three was the team of Berry Hills members Adam Sholes and Todd Westfall who followed their opening round of 64 with a round of 65 for a tournament total of 129. Ten-time WV Four-Ball Champions, Steve Fox and Pat Carter surged up the leaderboard today with a five under-par round of 65 placing them in a tie for 4th with the teams of Nick Biesecker / Steve Hussey and Adam Kaminski / Alan Cooke who all posted tournament totals of seven under-par, 134.

Next year’s Four-Ball Championship has already been set and will be coming back to Edgewood CC and Berry Hills CC. Next year however will see the locations flipped with Berry Hills hosting the opening round and Edgewood CC playing host to the final round.
