WILLIAMSON — The time is growing closer to take part in the fourth annual “Kickin Butt” for Chron’s disease, 5k run/ One mile walk. The event will be held on July, 22. this year with the starting line being placed at the Williamson Fieldhouse.
Runners from far and wide will once again get the chance to paint West End multi-colored with bright Lycra shirts and neon running shoes for a cause that has been picking up steam over the past few years. Jean Stanley lost the battle with Chron’s Disease over fifteen years ago, the race is run in honor of her and her 20 year battle with Chron’s Disease.
The event covers a a wide range of causes from education about Chron’s Disease to living a healthier lifestyle.
This year the event will be held on Friday evening, July, 22. at 7:30 p.m. starting at the Williamson Fieldhouse. You will be able to pre-register for the 5k run/ One mile walk at The Williamson Coal House, The Williamson Health and Wellness Center or online. The online registration will begin this upcoming week.
There will be a 20 dollar registration fee for the event with children under the age of 11 free to run the kids race (100 yard dash). If you wait until race day to register, the price will increase to 25 dollars. However, if you do wait until race day to register you can register at the Williamson Fieldhouse from 5:00 p.m. until 7:15 p.m.
This year races will be given custom “Kickin Butt” for Chron’s Disease t-shirts and finisher medals. There will be age awards and the event organizers have stressed that the course is extremely well marked this year to keep runners on track.
