NAUGATUCK — The Tug Valley Panthers are looking to improve on last years success with an even schedule this season.

The Panthers upcoming football schedule is even with home and away games. They saved the open week for the post season and the same familiar foes are returning for another go around. Tug Valley finished the season 8-4 last year, over-all, with a loss to Moorefield in the opening round of the playoffs.

The Panthers will start the season with back to back away games with Sherman and Meadow Bridge. Last season the Panthers put up monster numbers against Meadow Bridge with a 64-28 win at home. The Panthers will then stay home for three straight games with Van, Sheldon Clark, and Tolsia. The Panthers breezed through this portion of the schedule last year until they met the powerhouse Class-AA Tolsia.

The Panthers will then end September and start October with two away games with Buffalo and Valley. Buffalo got the better of the Panthers last season but the Panthers have a lot of skill players returning with a crazy good junior class stepping up with one more year of experience.

The Panthers report Jeremy Dillon will be under center which will give opposing defenses a runner, passer, and hitter to keep an eye on out of the backfield.

The Panthers will have two home games against Mont Calm and Mountview before finishing the regular season with rival Man High School. The Panthers will be looking to make another playoff trip and the last week bye week will certainly give them time to prepare. All expectations show the Panthers having a good season.

They will miss some skill players and they will miss some players on the line but the Panthers will certainly have speed to make up for any week spots.

Construction is still ongoing with the new sporting complex but there was plenty of work done to the field last season to accommodate home field advantage in the playoffs should they make it that far.
