GOODY, Ky – The Belfry Pirates didn’t let the rain and wind stop them from taking on the Sheldon Clark Cardinals Thursday evening at Belfry High School Baseball Park.

Belfry scored two runs int he first inning and that proved enough to defeat Sheldon Clark 2-1. Belfry only had three hits during the contest and the Cradinals had only four, the Pirates also had a risky four errors but the Cardinals were only able to capatalize on one fo those errors.
In the first inning the Pirates loaded the bases and scored with two sacrifice fly balls. With the bases loaded Tyler Fields hit one deep into center field that was caught but Fannin tagged up and crossed the plate. Devin Varney hit another shot into the outfield that was caught but it gave Catron plenty of time to make it home.
The Cardinals didn’t score until the sixth inning when Jon Fitch made it home on a bad fielders choice throw by the Pirates. The Pirates closed the inning and held the Cardinals scoreless, once again, in the Cardinals final shot at bat.
