MADDISON – The Mingo Central Miners fell short in the second half to the Scott Skyhawks on Friday night. The Miners lost by a final score of 64-49.
Mingo Central entered the game and controlled the entire first half. The Miners won the first period 14-7 and then won the second period 15-14. The Skyhawks had others plans for the second half. The eight point lead the Miners had built in the first half was lost in the third period after Scott won the period 17-8.
Scott had a huge fourth period showing by more than doubling the Miners score of 26-12. The game was played during Senior Night for the Scott Skyhawks and reports flooded in that Scott Senior Chris Jarell hit a long jumper at the end of the game before the final buzzer sounded. That was Jarrell’s last two points of his high school career. Social media reports suggested that both teams showed an amazing amount of sportsmanship in the celebration of Jarell’s final two points.
Mingo Central was led in scoring by Dalton Hatfield with 13 points and Deonte Joplin with 12 points. Scott was led in scoring by T. Bell with 24 points.
