RED JACKET – The (1-10) Mingo Central Miners took a thumping at the hands of the (10-2) Poca Dots on Tuesday night with a final score of 80-34.
The Miners have struggled, so far this season, to say the least. Poca, being the best team in Class AA, showed absolutely no mercy on the struggling Miners. The Dots jumped ahead quick in the first period by 15 points over the Miners. The score at the end of the first period was 25-10.
The Miners made a good effort in the second period to get back into the game but the Dots stayed in control outscoring Mingo Central 17-11. The Dots had doubled the Miners in points during the first half with the score at halftime being 42-21.
Things only got worse for Mingo Central in the second half as Poca outscored them by double digit points in both the third and fourth periods. The Miners had no answer for the dots and the game ended in a blowout.
Mingo Central is scheduled to play No.2 Tug Valley on the road on Friday. However, the expected snow storm may force the game to be rescheduled.
