RED JACKET – The Mingo Central Miners continue to struggle as they picked up another loss Saturday night at the hands of the visiting Sissonville Indians by a final score of 71-62.
Despite heading into the locker room at the end of the first half with a one point lead over the Indians the Miners failed to keep up that momentum in the second half. The Miners let Sissonville run away with the game during the third period; the Indians outscored the Miners 21-10 in the third.
The 20 point effort by the Miners in the fourth period would not be enough to overcome the lead the Indians had created. Dalton Hatfield led the way for the Miners in scoring with 22 points.
Samples added 28 points to Sissonville’s score.
The Miners shot 58 percent from the free throw line making 17 of 29 shots.
The Miners move on to face Scott Tuesday night, at home, before squaring off against Belfry in the Hatfield McCoy Shootout being held at the Williamson Fieldhouse this Saturday. The Miners will play Belfry in the late game which is scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m.
