GOODY, Ky. – The Mountain Schoolboy Classic, one of the longest running boy’s high school holiday basketball tournaments in the region, is slated again this year.
The tourney was started by the late 1970s at the old Belfry High School.
The event has continued to run through the years featuring many great players. Names like Belfry legend J.J. Hylton, Williamson Hall of Famers Mark Cline and Barry Baker and many more have participated in the games.
Several teams from the region and some from out of the area are scheduled to participate this year.
Here is the schedule of the 2015 event that starts on Dec. 28 and runs to Dec. 30 at the BHS gymnasium.
3:30 Phelps vs. East Ridge
5:00 Magoffin County vs. North Laurel
6:30 Pike County Central vs. South Laurel
8:00 Belfry vs. Beth Haven
2:00 Tolsia vs. Phelps
3:30 Beth Haven vs. North Laurel
5:00 Magoffin County vs. Pike County Central
6:30 South Laurel vs. East Ridge
8:00 Belfry vs. Tug Valley
3:30 East Ridge vs. Beth Haven
5:00 Phelps vs. South Laurel
6:30 North Laurel vs. Pike County Central
8:00 Belfry vs. Magoffin County
Tourney Notes: The first team listed on the schedule will be the home team and wear white uniforms. All games will start 20 minutes after the preceding game.
All teams will be provided T-shirts and can eat a team meal after each game in the hospitality room. Traveling teams may use Laundry Facilities at Belfry High School.
