Pikeville 69, Sheldon Clark 63 (OT)

PIKEVILLE, Ky. – Pikeville shutout Sheldon Clark 6-0 in the overtime period to pull away with a 68-63 win Monday night at the PHS gym.

Wyatt Battaile, fresh off of a state championship in football, led the Panthers with 22 points. Blaine May and Dalton Meade each added 12 points for Coach Bart Williams’ squad.

David Cantrell led the Cardinals with 17 points, while Drew Hatfield, an 8th grader, and Brad Dalton had 13 points.

Pikeville is now 3-3 on the season and will play in the Smoky Mountain Classic Tournament next week, Dec. 21-23.

Sheldon Clark, coached by Jason James, is now 3-4 this season and will travel to Paintsville on Thursday night and play host to Tug Valley on Saturday night at the Warfield gym.

Belfry 55, Pikeville 48

GOODY, Ky. – The Belfry Lady Pirates defeated the visiting Lady Panthers of Pikeville 55-48 at the BHS gym on Monday night.

Belfry is now 2-2 on the season and will play in the Lexington Catholic Holiday Tournament this weekend.

Pikeville is now 2-1 and will take on Pike Central in a home game on Thursday night.

Sophomore Lena Hairston led Belfry with 16 points, while Kylea Stanley added nine and Kailee Rash chipped in eight. Stanley also pulled down eight rebounds for Coach Kevin Deskins squad.

Alexxa Gearhart scored 13 points to lead Pikeville, while Alivia Gearhart added 11 and Kayce Tackett nine.

Belfry was 17-44 from the field for 39 percent and made 4-12 from behind the arc. PHS was 16-33 from the floor for 49 percent, but only made 1-3 from 3-point range.

The Lady Pirates sank 17-30 at the foul line for 57 percent, while the Lady Panthers were 15-20 for 50 percent.

Belfry forced 18 Pikeville turnovers, while committing 13 turnovers.

Charleston Catholic 67, Tug Valley 26

Charleston Catholic rolled past Tug Valley’s Lady Panthers 67-26 Monday night in a game played at the CCHS gym.

No details were reported from the Tug Valley staff on the game from Monday night. Stats were provided by the Gazette-Mail.
