West Virginia Boys Basketball Poll


Tug Valley No. 4, Mingo No. 9



CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Tug Valley is ranked No. 4 in the Associated Press pre-season poll Class A poll, while Mingo Central comes in at No. 9 in Class AA.

The poll was released on Monday evening. The AP has a group of 10 votes across the Mountain State.

Both schools open their schedules this week. Mingo Central opened Tuesday night with Logan and plays host to Herbert Hoover on Friday. Tug Valley opens at Richwood on Friday.

Westside is No. 8 in AA, while Chapmanville is No. 10. Other teams in the region received votes including Wyoming East, Scott and Tolsia.

In Class AAA, Logan received votes, but did not crack the top 10.

The No. 1 team in Class AAA is Huntington, while Poca is No. 1 in AA and Wheeling Central tops the poll in Class A. Poca, who will host Mingo Central on Dec. 15, returns as the undefeated state champion in Class AA.
