DELBARTON – The top seeded Delbarton Bulldogs hosted the No.8 Chapmanville Tigers in the quarterfinal round of the SWVMFL B-Team division. The Tigers received the opening kick, but the Dogs defense forced a three and out. The Dogs Jumped on the Tigers quickly, as quarterback Dane Hatfield found the end zone from 46-yards out. Hatfield hit Malaki Sheppard for the two point conversion, bringing the score to 8-0 at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter began just as the first, as the Dogs forced another punt from the Tigers. The Dogs took the ball down to the Tiger 10-yard line, and Hatfield found Nathan Hynd for a 10-yard touchdown. Hatfield also scored on the two point conversion, bringing the score to 16-0. After another Tiger punt, Hatfield fond pay dirt from 50-yards away and also sored the two point conversion. This put the Dogs up 24-0. On the Tigers final possession before the half, cornerback Bradyn Hall intercepted a pass to keep the lead 24-0.
The Tigers kicked off to begin the third quarter, and Hatfield returned the kick for a 55-yard touchdown. He also took the ball in for the two point conversion, making the score 32-0 After stopping the Tigers yet again, Hatfield threw a 40-yard touchdown pass to Bradyn Hall. Hynd ran the two point conversion making the score 40-0 at the end of the third quarter.
In the last quarter, the Tigers made it down to the Dogs 1-yard line. It looked as if the Tigers were going to punch it into the end zone, but the Dogs defense turned them away four straight times. With the Dogs pinned back deep, Hatfield hit Sheppard for a 99 yard touchdown bringing the final score to 46-0.
The Dogs racked up 464-yards of total offense with 244-yards rushing, 165 in the air, and 55 from special teams. Hatfield led the way with 154-yards rushing with two touchdowns and 165-yards passing with three touchdowns. Malaki Sheppard had 44-yards rushing and 99-yards receiving with a touchdown. Bradyn Hall had 33-yards rushing and 40-yards receiving with a touchdown. Nathan Hynd had 13-yards rushing and 26-yards receiving with a touchdown.
The Dogs defense was led by Jacob Barnes with nine tackles, four for loss. Alex Muncy added seven tackles, five for loss. Isaiah Charles recorded six tackles, three for loss. Chaz Waine had five tackles, three for loss. Nathan Hynd had four tackles, one for a loss. Dane Hatfield had four tackles. Rob Potts added three tackles, on for a loss. Bradyn Hall had three tackles and an interception. David Dotson had three tackles. Kaiden Gilman had two tackles. C.J. Ferguson Malaki Sheppard, Hunter Hylton, Allen Bailey, Bradley Preece, and Brayden Stacy added one tackle each.
With the win, the No.1 Bulldogs advance to the semi-finals. They will take on the No.5 Tug Valley Panthers. The Panthers defeated the No.4 seated Logan Wildcats by a score of 20-12. The Bulldogs (9-0) defeated the Panthers (6-3) in a regular season match-up 34-0. The game is scheduled to be played on November 8th at 1:30 p.m. in Logan.
