Pikeville rolls to win; Phelps, SC lose

Pikeville 57, Jenkins 6

Pikeville jumped out to a 43-6 first quarter lead and went on to defeat Jenkins 57-6 for another district win and improve to 7-2 on the season. The Panthers are ranked No. 4 in Class A heading into the last game of the season.

Coach McNamee’s team rolled up 312 of total offense and the defense held Jenkins to just 78 yards. The halftime score was 57-6 and that is how it remained on the scoreboard until the end of the contest.

Senior Daric Pugh rushed two times for 122 yards and a pair of touchdowns (TDs), while Anthony Vanderbeck had five carries for 98 yards and two scores. Cody Charles had one carry for 10 yards and a TD. Andrew McNamee caught one pass for a 24-yard TD, while Vanderbeck caught the other pass from quarterback Wyatt Battaile for 19 yards. Battaile was 2-of-2 passing for 43 yards.

Chatlin Jarrell had an 80 yard kickoff return for the Panthers.

South Floyd 58, Phelps 6

HI HAT – South Floyd ran past Phelps 58-6 in a game played at Raider Stadium on Friday, Oct. 23.

James Little rushed 16 times for 212 rushing yards and six TDs, which tied the school record for South Floyd.

LaQuan Smith rushed six times for 88 yards and one TD for the Hornets.

Lawrence County 49, Sheldon Clark 19

LOUISA — The Sheldon Clark Cardinals saw their record drop to 2-7 on the season Friday night as they were routed by the host Lawrence County Bulldogs 49-19 at Luke Varney Stadium. The loss sends the Cards to a fourth seed in the district and they will have to play at either Russell, West Carter or Fleming County, as that district’s top seed has not been decided yet.
