INEZ, Ky. – The Belfry Pirates traveled to Inez on Friday to face the Sheldon Clark Cardinals. The Pirates rolled over the Cardinals by a score of 52-6.
The Pirates scored 37 points during the first quarter and coasted through the game with the easy lead.
The Pirates finished with 182-yards rushing on 28 carries. They had three rushing touchdowns and 19 rushing first downs. The Pirates completed four passes and had two passing touchdowns.
Cameron Catron led the Pirates in rushing with 47-yards on one run, he scored one rushing touchdown. Andrew Fletcher rushed five times for 33-yards and one rushing touchdown. Taveon Hunter rushed three times for 15-yards and one touchdown. Justin Adkins rushed three times for 33-yards.
Nate Sanger, Catron and Josh Keathley all recovered one fumble a piece and Keathley returned his for a touchdown.
Austin Woolum made 5 of 6 extra-point kicks and the Pirates converted one two-point conversion.
Devin Varney led the Pirates in tackles with six, Braxton Miller had five tackles and Sanger finished the game with three tackles.
The reserves played most of the final quarter for Coach Philip Haywood’s team.
The Pirates held the Cardinals to only 99-yards rushing and one score.
Belfry will take on district rival Pike County Central this Friday.
