Belfry soccer action

GOODY, Ky. – Last Saturday the Belfry Boys’ soccer team faced off against Scott for an exciting match.

The two teams ended the game in a tie; this is the first tie of the season for the Belfry Pirates.

Christian Long scored early in the match from an assist from teammate Dylan Brown during the 5th minute to put the pirates on the scoreboard first. Brown scored the second goal of the match during the 36th minute to put the Pirates on top by two scores and give Belfry the lead heading into halftime.

After halftime the Skyhawks went to work when Ronald Mulligan scored unassisted during the 45th minute of play to put Scott on the scoreboard. Mulligan also scored the final goal of the match during the 77th minute to tie the match.

The Pirates attempted 19 shots on the goal and Scott goalie, Tristan Moore, had 11 saves during the match. The Skyhawks attempted nine shots on the goal and Pirate goalie, Dominic Gentile, had four saves during the match.

Belfry now moves into a record of 12-2-1 and Scott now sets at 8-5-3 on the season.

Girls match:

On Monday the Belfry girls’ soccer team faced off against the Pike County Central Lady Hawks.

The Lady Pirates stepped away with a win against the Lady Hawks after scoring four unanswered goals making the final score of the match 4-0.

Kaley Long scored first for the Pirates during the 18th minute from an assist from teammate Lauren Hult. Kayla Gauze scored during the 29th minute from a penalty kick. Samantha Smith scored right before the end of the first half from an assist from Hult to put the Lady Pirates up by three scores before halftime.

After halftime Robbi-Ann Brewer scored during the 66th minute to make the final score of the match 4-0.

The Lady Pirates attempted 34 shots on the goal and Pike Central goalie, Mollie Huffman, had 20 saves during the match. The Lady Hawks attempted two shots on the goal and Belfry goalie, Kylea Stanley had two saves during the match.

The Lady Pirates now have a record of 7-8-1 and the Lady Hawks fall to a record of 1-12-0 on the season.
