GOODY, K.y. – The Belfry girls’ soccer team hosted the Pike County Central Lady hawks on Tuesday evening. The Lady Pirates won by a score of 5-0.
The first goal of the match was scored by Belfry when the ball bounced off of a Lady Hawk and into the net. Kaley Long scored the first actual goal for the Lady Pirates, unassisted, during the 6th minute.
Kayla Gauze scored next for the Lady Pirates, unassisted, during the 9th minute and scored again before the end of the first half to make the score at halftime 4-0.
The second half belonged to Gauze also, she scored the only goal in the second half during the 42nd minute from an assist from teammate Aaliyeah Steele to make the final score 5-0.
The Lady Pirates attempted 47 total shots at the goal. Pike Central goalie, Elyice Justice had two saves in the first nine minutes and Mollie Huffman finished the game and had 26 saves for the Lady Hawks.
The Lady Hawks attempted zero shots at Belfry’s goal.
The Lady Pirates now advance to a record of 6-6-1 on the season. The Lady Hawks fall to a record of 2-8.
The Lady Pirates will travel to Boyd County on Sept, 26. at 1:00 p.m.
