GOODY , K.y. – The Belfry girls’ soccer team beat the Mingo Central girls’ team on Saturday at the Belfry High School soccer field. The Lady Pirates won the match by a score of 10-1.
The first half of the match was all the Lady Pirates. Kaley Long scored first during the 7th minute for the Pirates.
Maddie Smith scored during the 12th minute from an assist from Long. Long scored again from an assist from teammate Kayla Gauze during the 18th minute. Chrissy Walters scored during the 19th minute from an assist from Long.
Long scored a third time during the 20th minute, unassisted, to make the score 5-0. Robbi-Ann Brewer and Keitley Marcum scored two more goals for the Lady Pirates before halftime to make the score at the half 7-0.
Aaliyeah Steele scored the first goal after the half, unassisted, during the 50th minute.
Kylee Varney scored the lone goal for the Lady Miners in the 51st minute of the match.
Megan lambert scored the next goal for the Lady Pirates during the 70th minute and Annie Facemyre scored the final goal off of an assist from Smith to make the final score 10-1.
The Lady Pirates attempted 33 shots on the goal. The Lady Miner’s goalie, Jamie Moore had 13 saves. The Lady Miners attempted five shots on the goal. The Lady Pirate goalies Kylea Stanley and Shaye Smothers had three combined saves.
The Lady Pirates are now 5-5 on the season, and the Lady Miners fall to 0-5.
The Lady Pirates will host Lawrence County on Sept. 15. at 6:30 p.m. The Lady Miners will travel to Poca to face the Lady Dots on Sept. 15. At 5:00 p.m.
