PIKEVILLE, Ky. – The Belfry Lady Pirate soccer team won a hard fought battle against the Pikeville Lady Panthers on Tuesday night.
During the first half of the match there was some back and forth scoring between the two teams. Kayla Gauze scored first for the Lady Pirates from an assist from teammate Robbi-Ann Brewer in the 17th minute of the match.
The Lady Panthers fired back as Cassidy Lowe scored an unassisted goal in the 25th minute of the match.
Kaley Long scored next for the Lady Pirates during the last minute before the end of the first half from an assist from teammate Kayla Gauze.
After the half it was the “Robbi-Ann Brewer show” because she scored two unassisted goals for the Lady Pirates, one in the 43rd minute and the other in the 46th minute of the match. Brewer sealed the win for the Lady Pirates making the final score 4-1.
The Lady Pirates attempted 12 shots on the goal. Pikeville’s goalie, Erica Conn had 4 saves during the match. The Lady Panthers attempted 26 shots at the goal. Belfry’s goalie, Shaye Smothers, had 17 saves during the match.
The Lady Pirates now have a record of 2-5 on the season, Belfry will host the Paintsville Lady Tigers tonight at 6:00 p.m.
